Play Ball!

It's that time of year....softball season. We are big softball/baseball players in our house, and for whatever reason, this year we've really been looking forward to it. Mariah made the Jordan VJ and Sophomore teams, and she has at least two games a week. Her dad is her biggest fan and goes to every single game he can make (which is almost all of them). Here are some pages that I made of Mariah's first game of the season. I don't want to brag too much, but she's a dang good softball player.

Student of the Month

Dominique was awarded Student of the Month in March. Here is my continued attempt at digital scrapbooking. It takes longer than you might think, but I'm hoping to get better at it the more I try. If you click on the images, you can see them in a much larger format.

And the best actress award goes to.....

Dominique! She has worked very hard on her elementary school musical called "Hickory Dickory Rock!" She was Little Red Riding Hood in a tongue in cheek parody of classic nursery rhymes. This version was full of classic songs that are fun to dance to...and dance they did. This is Dominique delivering her lines...the last ones of the play that tell the Big Bad Wolf that he is no longer banished but can come back to the forest with the other fairy tale characters. This is a number that featured the Katrina and the Wave hit "Walking on Sunshine." Dominique is on the left in the red cape.

This is awesome. The lead singer (lower left-center of the frame) is in KINDERGARTEN. He rocks it! "You should be Dancing!"

And what good would a fairy tale parody be without a rendition of "Celebration" by Kool and the Gang? Ironically, I was grooving to this tune when I was in the 6th Grade. Dom's kids will probably be grooving to this tune 20 years from now.

This video is for my friend, Diane. Her awesome Kindergartner rocked his part.

These moments from elementary school go by so quickly. I have LOVED every performance that the kids have done. When I realize that Domi is our last kid in elementary, it's hard not to be sentimental. She spent most of her elementary school years at Sandy Elementary, and she has loved every day of it! We are so grateful to all of the wonderful men and women who have taught our kids in those crucial elementary years. They are true heroes! There is a special place in heaven for those who love teaching and love children enough to teach them.
